Knowing What You Know

“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat

of every tree of the garden?”

Genesis 3:1

Dear Friends,

When we know what we believe, it prevents us from being misled by error. Our belief system gives us a lens through which we view all that we see in life. If our filter is fuzzy there’s going to be dark spots in our ability to view things clearly.

The source of all error ultimately is the accuser of the brethren - Satan. He wants to create doubts, spots and smudges on our filter so that we don’t see things clearly.

Satan fooled Adam and Eve by creating doubt, he said in essence, “did God really say what you think he said?” It’s been said that the best way to understand if the dollar bill you hold in your hand is counterfeit is to be well acquainted with an authentic bill. I’m sure the same is true with truth, the more we understand God’s character and mind, as seen from Scripture, the quicker we will recognize error – no matter the smoke and mirrors that Satan puts out.

Knowing what you know also helps us steer clear of fear. By being well-grounded in the Word we can boldly live our faith. Solomon reminded his son that the righteous are bold as a lion (Proverbs 28:1).

It is essential that we see things clearly. How clean is the lens of your mind?
