Being Interested in What Interests the Lord

“Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil?”

Micah 6:7

Dear Friends,

It is impossible to truly know God apart from knowing what interests Him. If we were trying to get to know somebody we must focus on their desires, not just our own personal concerns. The same thing is true with the Lord – if our focus is always just on our own stuff we will learn very little about the way God works.

The prophet Micah asked Israel to consider how to please the Lord. To please God, we must know what interests the Lord. By looking diligently into what He thinks is important, we will draw close to God.

Fortunately, God has not left us without an answer. The prophet expressed what God desires, “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8).

By living with justice in the world, mercy towards others and humbly with God – we will be interested in what God is interested in.
