Do All Roads Lead to Heaven?

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Romans 6:23

Dear Friends,

The group, Same Difference, belted out the words in their pop music album, “…All roads lead to heaven if we dare to follow the heart.” I’m sure to some people, this empowerment quote gives them a good feeling but understanding true biblical salvation is the most important question we’ll ever ponder.

We should agree upfront to the fact that, to be sure, no one religion has a corner on eternal life. And not even any Christian denomination has the only way to heaven. While it’s true that all roads lead to God, only one road leads to Heaven – a path that runs directly through Jesus Christ alone!

What does salvation mean? Paul explained that the wages (price) of sin is death (Romans 6:23). And since all of us sin, then all of us, myself included, are deserving of death. But God in His amazing love and mercy is willing to forgive that sin on the basis of His only son, Jesus Christ.

When Jesus Christ died on the cross, He took our place. He received the punishment that was rightly ours. Salvation is a gift from God that comes as a result of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. There are many paths that lead us to God…I love the cool breeze of the beach, but connecting with nature only leads me to God not salvation.

I say again, all roads lead to God but only one road leads to Heaven – a path that runs directly through Jesus Christ alone!

In Christ Alone,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
