What Is He Calling You to Do?

“For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Galatians 5:13

Dear Friends,

Scripture records the lives of many wonderful characters, both men and women, who were called by God to do mighty works! Who has not thrilled at the amazing victories of the great, but humble, Joshua. David’s call from shepherd to king is also an incredible story of God’s call.

But in reality, God calls each believer to a life of service, just as He called Bible saints. From God’s perspective, you and I are just the same as Joshua, David, Deborah or whoever – each a special vessel for God’s kingdom work. We don’t discount the importance and respect that we have for these biblical characters and their position but every work that advances the Gospel or serves a need is a call. Whether we’re cleaning or painting the church, changing a diaper, teaching, singing or keeping the Gospel online; all are great services for God’s work.

Not every person has the resources to be able to go to a foreign mission field, but we can all share the Gospel with someone we meet with by use of a church event invite or tract. Some sing in the choir or worship team, others faithfully help with the children’s department. Whatever the case, God invites each of us to respond to the call to serve one another wherever, however and whenever we can with a genuine heart of love. Friend, what is God calling you to do?

Serving in Love,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
