What Makes Christmas So Remarkable?

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16

Dear Friends,

When you think about Christmas, what memories come as you encounter the sights, sounds and smells of the season? Christmas stirs up pleasant memories within my heart, hopefully it does for you too.

But in this brief article I want to encourage us all to recall what God provided for us on that first Christmas when He came to dwell among us.

We are reminded in John of the Father’s amazing gift to each of us, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son…” (John 3:16). Think about it – the Lord God Almighty, who is, “Lord of lords, and King of kings, personally picked out a gift for us!

He bestows what nobody else can and what you need most—forgiveness for your sins through His son Jesus Christ. That is why we celebrate the baby in the manger at Bethlehem. It’s not about the pageants, parties, presents or even other people. Christmas is God’s gift of love for you.
