Rejoice the Soul of Thy Servant

“Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.”

Psalm 86:4

Dear Friends,

As Christians we know deep down, we can't find lasting happiness in this world. But this world is so intrusive — television, music, Internet, work our social circles. Everything steers us in the direction of running the rat race of achievements and fun.

How do we achieve a God based happiness? First, you and I must begin each day by looking for satisfaction in the right place, “Rejoice the soul of thy servant: for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul” (Psalm 86:4). The more you ask for light as you study God's promises, the more you will see the tremendous blessings the Father has in store for His children.

Second, we must make a habit of praise. The Psalmist went on in Psalm 86, “Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works.” Once we see God's greatness as recorded in Scripture, you and I can't help but be overwhelmed with thanksgiving. That's where happiness begins. There are as many ways to express our gratitude, as there are things to be grateful for. The main thing is that each day you tell God something you are thankful for and then occasionally, maybe on your birthday, spend time reviewing all the incredible things God has done in your life!
