Genuine Service to God

“Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.”

1 Thessalonians 5:24

Dear Friends,

Have you ever felt discouraged about trying to live the Christian life or serving God?

At times we put great effort into ministry hoping that somehow, we will produce fruitfulness, yet we eventually run out of energy and even desire. That’s because all too often we are attempting to serve God out of our own abilities, intelligence, and reasoning power.

The Apostle assured the church at Thessalonica that while their effort was vital it was the faithfulness of God that was their strength, “Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.” Genuine service to God is empowered and blessed by God alone. It may be our hands that are working, but all glory belongs to Him.

What a reassurance this should give us! The Lord will use all who are willing to let His Spirit work through them. And we can be confident that He will provide all the strength, wisdom and favor in order to do whatever He asks.
