Maintaining Good Health, Both Spiritual and Physical

“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

1 Corinthians 9:27

Dear Friends,

Too many people try to separate their physical life from their spiritual. The great Apostle reminded us that we play a part in good health by “keeping” our body under subjection.

Here are six simple ways to maintain good H.E.A.L.T.H:

H – Have Good Meals. Food is fuel. Fill your body with the wrong kind of fuel and you will limit the efficiency of your spiritual engine.

E – Exercise. You may say, “I don’t have the strength or the time.” You may not enjoy exercise, but your body needs it, even if all you can do is walk, then do so.

A – Ask God. There are many medical studies that prove that prayer is good for the heart and other bodily systems.

L – Laugh. That is, you need to have some kind of diversion in life. Whether it be gardening, a cup of coffee with a friend, a short trip to the mountains, thrift store shopping, or watching an old movie. Everybody needs time to laugh.

T – Turn In. God made these bodies to require sleep. During sleep, God ministers to us physically, but He also speaks peace to our heart and spirit.

H – Hang Out at Church. Everybody needs friend connections. It’s been proven that friends, even if it’s a little mutt, can add years to life. Fully avail yourself of all the benefits of the local church experience!

Let’s maintain both spiritual and physical health so we can we can be meet for the Master’s use.

Yours for Good Health,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
