Drawn Away
“But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.”
James 1:14
Dear Friends,
No matter how hard we try to keep our schedule free of distractions, things still happen. Many of these situations are beyond our control and ability to do much about. However, James, the brother of Jesus, reminded us that there are some instances where we permit ourselves to be drawn away from what God wants.
We can, for example, allow life to interrupt our private time with God. It’s all too easy to allow, as one author called it, “the tyranny of the urgent”, to determine our schedule. But we will never succeed in life if we allow our devotions with God to be full of interruptions. Investing time in God’s Word and worshiping the Lord is a vital part of a successful Christian's life.
To win in life we need to focus our minds on God’s best and stay at it until the job is done. We must recognize that ultimately, as James reminded us, every man is drawn away of his own lust. We cannot blame a distracted life on somebody else. If your inner life with God is important to you, then you must not allow yourself to be drawn away.
Staying Strong,
