Staying Young

February 2, 2020

They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;”

Psalm 92:14

Dear Friends,

Our western culture has a preoccupation with looking, being, and staying youthful. The radio, Internet and advertising of all types are filled with products that promise fewer wrinkles, more energy, and ways to look better. Some of these products and actions may actually even help, at least temporarily, but the reality is – growing old is a fact of life.

While we can’t stay young, we can stay fruitful, which is far better. The Psalmist reminded us of two important ways to stay fruitful for the Lord in Psalm 92. First, we must be pure, The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree…” (92:12). Living a Bible-centered life is the way to stay strong not only on the outside, but on the inside.

Second, we must be planted, “Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish…” (92:13). We ought to stay faithful in a good, Christ-honoring church, no matter how old we are, if we desire to stay fruitful. When a righteous (Christian) person is faithful to support his or her church with their prayers, person and purse they’re investing in things that last for eternity!

Friend, whether you’re young in physical years or older, let’s be all in for God’s work in this new year!

Staying Fruitful,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
