Eternal Value

“Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.”

Philippians 3:8

Dear friends,

Everywhere I turn I see the word "value" - great value…super value…value funds…valuable. But when we actually stop and weigh the value of earthly things we realize something, and that is this – their absolute worthlessness! That’s exactly what transpired in the mind of the Apostle Paul. He learned that the only thing of eternal value on this earth, was this fact - a Savior died on the cross for his sins. Everything else paled in comparison. In trying to establish something’s value, we must weigh it’s cost with it’s enduring quality. We can clearly see then, how that the cross of Jesus is of highest worth. It cost Christ everything and it’s benefit never ends! And imagine this; for us...it is all a free gift. Now that’s what I call value! A man I knew always carried a little cross in his pocket. Whenever he would take change out or put his hand in his pocket, the little reminder stood as a mirror of his unworthiness and at the same time a token of God’s amazing love. Many Christian ladies wear beautiful crosses around their neck to serve as a constant check that the only boast we have is in the cross of Christ, “But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ..." (Galatians 6:14). Boasting in the Cross, Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
