Expecting but not Dictating

“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:19

Dear Friends,

We often have needs in our life. They can be physical, spiritual, relational, emotional or financial, but it becomes important that the situation gets some resolution.

The Apostle Paul wonderfully reminded the Philippian believers that every need they would ever experience, was actually already met in Jesus Christ. Because of His wisdom, deep love and amazing power towards us, He will always take care of our concerns. While we cannot dictate to God when or how they will be met, we certainly, as children in a covenant relationship with God, can expect that they will be provided for.

Why, at times, do we find our needs not met? Sometimes we are not ready. The Lord is trying to get our focus on Him…He wants us to be grateful for the answer…He doesn’t want us to take Him for granted. Just like growing any crop – it takes time for the fruit to mature.

At other times the answer is not ready. We may be “ready”, but we need to realize that we cannot dictate to God a particular time frame – He always knows best. We can be sure that He is very interested in us and while He does not promise that everything comes when we want; we can be sure that our needs will be met because of Jesus Christ.

He Is More Than Able,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
