The Living Word of God

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God…”

2 Timothy 3:16

Dear Friends,

When you pick up a Bible, what is it that you hold in your hand? Is it ink on paper? Is it a collection of ideas and tales of yesteryear? No – when we hold a copy of the Bible in our hands, we are holding a copy of the living Word of God! It is alive because it is breathed forth by God (inspired).

While we can know God from just observing creation around us, but the most accurate form of God’s revelation is through the written Word. God chose about 40 men over a period of 1500 years with different backgrounds, nationalities and eras to convey every idea and recollection He wanted included in Scripture. These human authors simply wrote down what they had received from the Holy Spirit.

Some may wonder since man was involved in writing Scripture that it might have some errors, but the Bible can be perfectly trusted because it was God who was doing the speaking. God oversaw everything that was being written down. Just as a footnote, one of the most exciting things about living in the era that we do is that every decade brings along with it discoveries of ancient portions of Scripture. Yet these handwritten finds, known as manuscripts, always confirm the accuracy of the Bible we hold in our hand.

What an amazing and loving God we have to communicate His mind so clearly to us and to preserve it for all generations. God’s Word is not just an ancient book written in a foreign language; it is a living God-breathed declaration of the mind of God!

The B-I-B-L-E, yes…that’s the book for me,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
