Our Abba Father

“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”

Romans 8:15

Dear Friends,

The benefits of being a child of God are many. Being saved is the greatest privilege in the universe! One wonderful blessing of our salvation is the honor of getting to know God.

There are many names of God in scripture that describes His power and strength. The name “Abba Father” is one of the most significant in understanding how He relates to His people. The word Abba is an Aramaic word that is most closely translated as daddy. It was common for children in those days to refer to their father as “Abba.”

Through the Word, and as we experience His grace and mercy in our lives, we realize how incredible it is that not only are we encouraged to call Him God – but Abba…daddy! What a truly amazing thing it is that a holy, righteous and powerful God, who created everything, would allow a sinful human to call Him daddy. But that’s the kind of wonderful God we serve – a loving Father…daddy.

Feeling Close to my Daddy Today,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
