Failing Without Being a Failure

“Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;”

2 Corinthians 4:9

Dear Friends,

The story of Peter’s spiritual failure and his subsequent restoration should give each of us great encouragement. It’s true that Peter failed, but he wasn’t a failure!

The Apostle Paul said it best when he said it’s possible to be cast down but not destroyed. Everybody fails. It is impossible to go through life without making some bad choices. Sometimes these choices are a result of our sinful inclinations. Other times they are our best efforts that have been limited by our humanness. But what matters is how we respond.

The devil wants us to give up and feel like our failing makes us a failure but God often uses our failures to produce humility in us. And it is through humility, being broken by our mistakes, that God purifies us and keeps us depending on Him for strength.

God wants to get glory from our lives. Amazingly the Holy Spirit uses our errors as catalysts that move us onto a whole new vision of what God will do in our life. Today, let’s use our broken dreams as stepping-stones to a new vision for life.

Love and Prayers to Each of You,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
