Heeding the Right Voice

“Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”

Genesis 3:1

Dear Friends,

Every Christian knows the importance of listening to the Spirit. However, care must be taken to make sure that we are hearing the Holy Spirit! Sometimes we listen to the wrong voice.

The serpent approached Eve and started talking about God. Eve, instead of using godly discernment, took his words at face value and engaged in a spiritual conversation with him – BIG mistake! Any time we give the serpent spirit our time and attention we are sure to end up in trouble. The new spiritual ideas he presented pleased her mind and flesh. She indeed heard the voice of a god…just not Almighty God.

As humans, it is all too easy to be deceived. As our verse states, Satan’s scheming nature is subtle. It is imperative then to keep a firm grasp on scriptural truths. Staying faithful in a Bible-believing church where the systematic teaching of theological truths is present is a great way to start.

Living by the Book,
