The Impact of a Godly Mother

“When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.”

2 Timothy 1:5

Dear Friends,

Mothers (as well as fathers) have a tremendous influence on the success and happiness of their children, both as they are young and also later in life. That’s why it is so important for a mother to model the Christian life, as seen in Scripture. The greatest gift that you could give your son or daughter is to purposely instruct them in the ways of God.

Consider the mom and grandmother of Timothy. Timothy, who later became a Pastor and was also Paul’s associate in ministry, had a wonderful heritage that came through both his grandmother and mother. It would appear that though the ladies were strong believers, the father was not (Acts 16:1). What an awesome thing it is when mothers live the kind of life children can imitate and walk in their steps.

On this Mother’s Day, we as a church want to speak with a resounding note the praises of godly motherhood, and for that matter, all women young and old. They are a special gift to all of us. May we treat them with the honor, respect and gentle love that is due to them. From the bottom of our hearts, we say thank you for displaying the heart of God and often being the hands of God through the hurts of our life. We love you very much and say Happy Mother’s Day!
