Building God's Kingdom in the Workplace

“Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:”

Colossians 3:22

Dear Friends,

As we leaf through the pages of the New Testament, we come to a clear conviction about how we, as believers, are to act in the workplace. And what is that? We are God’s servants wherever we are, including at work.

The Apostle Paul reminded the saints at Colossae that even though as a Christian God was their true master, they were to look at their workplace as God’s kingdom. Every Believer should approach every work assignment with a servant-like attitude that places more importance on others and less on self.

By looking above our earthly tasks, we will see that our greater goal is to build the kingdom of God through a servant-like spirit at work. Of course, we can never justify doing wrong or endorsing sin in any way, but even if the business we are employed at isn’t “Christian” or even owned by a Christian owner, we are still building God’s kingdom.

Dear friend, keep your eyes on Jesus and work hard, in so doing, you are growing God’s kingdom!

Working for Jesus,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
