Waiting for Tangible Evidence of Divine Action
“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
In Scripture, we are directed, encouraged and commanded to pray. Sometimes we will pray for months – even years – without seeing much happen (for example when praying for someone to give their life to the Lord Jesus Christ).
During these waiting times, it is easy to find our patience and strength tested. That’s why the prophet, Isaiah, encouraged Israel to not lose hope as they awaited their promised return back to Canaan.
Periods of waiting are often filled with fears and stress. These emotions wear us down and fatigue us, especially after months have gone by. During these times of need, God encourages us to wait on the Lord for strength as well as for an answer.
It’s rarely easy to wait on the Lord, but by staying vigilant in our prayer life, we will finally see our prayers answered and the strength to carry on.
Thanking God for Promised Strength,
