Getting Excited About a New Truth

“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”

1 Corinthians 2: 12

Dear Friends,

The Bible has an author, not Moses or David or Paul – but God the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit’s indwelling presence in our heart therefore is a necessity if we’re going to truly comprehend scripture.

When we read the bible, our Helper, the Holy Spirit opens the eyes of our understanding so, “that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” Recently God brought into my heart new light from a familiar passage of scripture. Even though I have had decades of experience meditating on Scripture this new insight brought fresh joy. Thank You Holy Spirit!

If we want the Holy Spirit to reveal biblical meaning there are a couple of prerequisites: First, we must be willing to obey and apply any scriptural principles. We cannot expect to understand the Bible if we refuse to obey its precepts. Secondly, we must ask the author (God) to reveal His intent behind the words. He illuminates and excites the spirit of each person who genuinely seeks to know God.

Excited to Know Him,

Dr. Tim Pollock
