The Christian’s Three Enemies

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

1 John 2:16

Dear Friends,

We are in a war! Spiritual combat is raging all around us, all the time. It is important for us as believers to be aware of the unseen conflict in order to win. Know your enemies! Our struggle exists in three areas: First, we have an internal enemy. Ever since the fall, the human heart does not seek God. These selfish desires are seen very early on in the hearts of children. The battle is raging. The Apostle John calls these patterns such as lust, greed and anger – the “flesh.” The second battleground is an external enemy. This world is constantly beating up God’s people with ungodly beliefs, attitudes and philosophies. We can either be influenced or an influencer. We can either help shape the world or let the world shape us. Jesus told us to be salt and light and to do what we can to make a difference!

The third and final enemy every Christian faces is an infernal enemy. This enemy is known in Scripture as Satan. He constantly pushes us away from the Word into demonic doctrine. We know from reading the book of Revelation that these final days of the devil are spent with great wrath knowing he has a short time.

Let’s be aware of or three enemies. Don’t fall asleep at your post…the war is raging.

Thanking God for the Victory We Have in the Lord Jesus Christ,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
