Triumphing Through God’s Love

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”

1 John 4:18

Dear Friends,

Those people who are perfectly assured of their salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ not only gain a confident hope of heaven but a freedom from fear and shame.

It is fear that often short-circuits our sense of the love of God. When we fear, we begin to doubt His love and care. But those who are assured of their salvation in Christ are perfectly free from any dread that comes from the feeling that they might have to face God’s righteous judgment.

Satan loves it when we fear because it hinders the journey God has designed for us. There is no way to believe that the Lord has great things for us if we think that God somehow doesn’t love us. Triumphing in the love of God begins by choosing to accept God’s free gift of salvation. And then as we follow His Word, an ever-increasing cycle of love and confidence will begin.

Don’t let your fears rob you of the great privilege of knowing that the God of the universe loves you. As Philip Bliss said in the classic hymn, “Jesus loves even me.”
