A Clean Slate

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

1 John 1:9

Dear Friends,

At the gym I used to go to, an interesting thing happened each new year. I noticed that it was quite a bit more crowded during the first week of January than usual! Not exactly sure all the reasons for the new-found motivation, but I know for most of us, we’re ready to whip ourselves back into shape and get off any excess pounds from that pound of fudge (or three…or five :)).

There’s just something about the turning of a calendar year that gives us a renewed energy to do what, perhaps, we had forgotten or neglected before. We see same thing in Scripture – God is the God of a fresh start. God wants us to keep a clean slate with Him and His faithful promise in 1 John is that the cleansing is there awaiting us.

The ultimate new beginning is accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Savior and watching Him take all of our sins away and give us His righteousness. Dear friend, acknowledge anything contrary between you and God today and then let’s move on and do great things for the Lord this year!

Praising Our Faithful God,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
