Rough Waters

“And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Matthew 14:31

Dear Friends,

What will this new year bring? I’m sure there’s going to be many blessings! But, realistically, we must expect that at some point, we are going to hit some rough waters. Perhaps you’ve already experienced some recently.

Matthew reminds us of the time that he and his fellow disciples, all veteran fishermen, found themselves in an incredibly big storm on the Sea of Galilee. The waves were high, and their boat was shaking apart. The wind was blowing severely and to top everything else off, the disciples thought they saw a ghost walking on the water towards them!

The same is true in our lives, whether a new or a seasoned Christian – rough waters can seriously test our faith. Thankfully these disciples found comfort when they realized Jesus was there and they weren’t alone.

Dear friend, no matter what adversity we will face this coming year, please know this – Jesus is close by extending a hand of loving care. It’s in the rough waters that we see Jesus best!

With Us in the Storm,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
