Hesitant Believers

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”

Romans 12:1

Dear Friends,

Are you a hesitant believer? Do you profess a saving faith in Christ but hold back from God? Are you thinking, “I will surrender to you Jesus as long as everything goes good and you take care of me…”?

Sadly, many of us unknowingly fall into this sort of a wavering lifestyle. The great New Testament apostle, Paul, relayed the Holy Spirit’s command that every believer’s life is to be a living sacrifice (Romans 12:1). In this verse, Paul is clearly connecting a person’s commitment to God back to the Old Testament practice of offering sacrifices. In those days, each believer would take their sacrifice to the temple, surrender it, and then walk away. They must let go, they could not hold onto it and they would never get it back. It was a sacrifice to God, and as such, it was an honor to give it up for the Lord.

Have you fully and completely committed yourself to God? Have you given yourself totally to His will and His plan? Friend, God is calling us to total commitment – no holding back! Let’s not be hesitant to place our lives on the altar of sacrifice.

Committed to Christ,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
