No Place for Luck
“The LORD hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.” Psalm 103:19
Dear Friends, Statisticians tell us that your chance of winning the lottery on a single ticket is one in 175 million…wow! I recently read of a man who won the lottery not just once or even twice but three times! Now, that’s what I would call lucky. Or is it? According to the Psalmist, David, there is no place for luck in any discussion about God. His kingdom rules over every aspect of our lives. I for one, am glad that God knows what He’s doing! If luck were the basis for life, then all of us would be victims of our circumstances. Sometimes happy, but usually unfulfilled. I used to have a friend who instead of saying the common expression, “good luck” would humorously say “good providence.” As we grow in our understanding of God’s Word, we understand that God truly is intimately and intricately involved in every area of our daily lives. He never stops caring for His children. As challenging as some situations can become, we must always remember that it’s not luck that affects our future but the blessings and favor of a sovereign, providential God. Dear friend, be confident today in the knowledge that God is still on the throne. Lord or luck? I choose the Lord! Trusting God Today, Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
