Find, Follow and Finish!

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

Dear Friends,

This coming week we will take our first steps into another year. Certainly, all of us want this year to be a good one. How can we be assured that it will be? I once read, “it is our duty to find, follow and finish the will of God” – great advice for the new year!

The first step to take in order to have a great year would be to Find. Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord...” Friend, never be afraid of the will of God. Obeying the Word of God may seem strange at times, but the first step of success is in finding the will of God through time in scripture.

The second step would be to Follow. Proverbs 3:5 says, “…lean not unto thine own understanding.” Life is just too crazy to try and navigate all the twists and turns in our own power or wisdom. There are too many icebergs out there that are just waiting to sink our ship. Only as we, in full dependence on the Lord, lean on God will we be able to arrive in port safely.

The final step for a successful year is to Finish. Proverbs 3:6 states, “…and He shall direct thy paths.” The phrase “direct thy paths” in the original language literally means that God will push aside the things that are in front of us. Not only does God show the way, He clears the way – hallelujah! This is going to be a great year…let's finish strong.

May Each Of You Have A Good And Godly Year,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
