What Reason Would You Give for God Letting You into Heaven?

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Ephesians 2:8-9

Dear Friends,

If God asked you, “Why should I let you into my Heaven” - what would you say? The average man on the street would likely answer that they were a pretty good person, had never killed somebody or some other really sinful action, therefore they don’t really deserve to be condemned.

These self-satisfying reasons however amount to nothing more than human rationalization – it certainly has no biblical backing. Sadly and surprisingly, there are actually many people that have attended church regularly, perhaps even for years, that have never heard the good news that salvation comes through Jesus alone. It is a Bible fact that heaven is not based on what kind of a person you are, what you do or don’t do. That misguided thinking is known in theological circles as “works salvation.” The basis for our salvation is the substitutionary death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ! There is no way to get to heaven without a personal relationship with Jesus Christ who died to take away your sins.

We are forgiven of our sins, whether small or great, solely on the basis of our Lord’s incredible sacrifice on the cross, out of His great love for us. If you base your salvation on anything else, you will be tragically mistaken.

Thanking God for the Cross Today,

Dr. Tim Pollock, Senior Pastor
