Human Beings are Created to Know God
“Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,”
Philippians 3:8
Dear Friends,
As believers, there are many ways to connect with God. Attending a Bible-teaching church faithfully is a great start. Another way is to get involved in serving the Lord through your local church. There are also meaningful religious traditions that can draw us closer to our God. But unfortunately, too many Christians never press beyond these good works. They ignore the Holy Spirit’s prompting to spend time in the Word and serious prayer.
Our fast-paced world and busy lifestyles don’t allow us to really get to know God. And all too often, when we do come to prayer its only out of a sense of duty. If this sounds like your life, dear friend, I would encourage you to realize that becoming intimately connected to God is a richly rewarding activity, but it does require some time. There’s no specific amount of time that’s needed to show that you’re spiritual, but the fact is that human beings are created to know God. The apostle Paul reminded believers of the important and excellent practice of drawing close to God, “…I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord” (Philippians 3:8).
We were created to have a close, loving relationship with the Lord. How much different Christianity is than any religion in the world where often, they only try to appease their god and not try to get close to him. May each of us listen to the Holy Spirit’s promptings to draw close and to dig deep!
Knowing God,
