What a Good God!

“O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.”

Psalm 118:1

Dear Friends,

All one has to do is to take even a cursory glance at the world around to realize how good God is! The beautiful weather and scenery we enjoy every day, the delicious food that warms even our soul and all the amazing sights and sounds around us all point to a God who is good.

Yes, God is certainly good to His people, “For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11). This verse reminds us that while God gives good things, they are not a guarantee, as they are reserved for those that walk “uprightly.”

For example, if we are not wise stewards, the Lord may choose to withdraw some of His benefits. A $10 tithe may not seem like much when you’re earning $100 a week. But a few years later, when that person has become successful and now has a $1,000 a week tithe but chooses not to give it because it seems like too much is taking God’s goodness for granted and not walking uprightly. Let’s walk according to God’s revealed will as seen in Scripture and He will continue to shower His goodness upon us.
