The Sacrifice of Praise
“By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” Hebrews 13:15
Adversities come into all of our lives. Financial, health, relationships, you name it...we all struggle with challenges in these areas. As a believer, our first instinct should be to pray and praise, which is certainly the Bible approach, but the way we pray is also important.
Praise and worship should not be reserved for Sunday services only, but should come from our lips every day...even when times are tough. I find that my conversations with God are often need-focused, but many of the Old and New Testament saints of God interspersed their requests with praise and worship. For me, it’s not easy to break free from my need-focus when my heart is so burdened. However, I find that every time I offer up praise and worship – even when it’s hard (a sacrifice) – that God works in a mighty way! I arise from my time with God with a renewed sense of peace and confidence realizing that He can handle all of the challenges in my life. The words that flow from our lips can be a sweet-smelling savor to our Father God.
