A Divine Countdown Clock
“And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.”
Revelation 20:12
Dear Friends,
Have you ever availed yourself of a “countdown clock?” You know, those little LED time displays that check off the days left until you retire, get married or some other important event. They can be lots of fun and help build excitement for that special day!
In like manner, the moment we were born, a countdown clock began on our lives. There is a day, an hour, a minute appointed for the time that we meet our Maker, “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27).
Every day as we awaken, our countdown clock shows one less day and we draw closer to the appointment we have with God. In the book of Revelation (Revelation 20:12), the great apostle John was given a vision of people – all people – standing before God someday. For some, this will be a day of blessed gratefulness to their Savior for their salvation, “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift” (2 Corinthians 9:15).
But tragically, this day will be a great shock for others. Jesus warned us time and again in the gospels that He and He alone is the way to eternal life, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). When Jesus died on the cross, was buried and rose again after three days, He defeated death and evil forever! When we accept that blessed sacrifice on our behalf, our name will be written in heaven.
Dear friend, become one of God’s children today! Just pray the powerful yet simple prayer, “…God be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13).
It’s TIME to Meet the Lord,
